What Will Matter...

What will matter is not what you've bought, but what you've built.

What will matter is not what you've got, but what you've given.

What will matter is not your success, but your significance.

What will matter is not what you've learned, but what you've taught.

What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage or sacrifice that enriched, empowered or encouraged others to emulate your example.

Reflections...

Watch your thoughts, they become words.

Watch your words, they become actions.

Watch your actions, they become habits.

Watch your habits, they become character.

Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny...

"In the search for me, I discovered truth. In the search for truth, I discovered love. In the search for love, I discovered God. And in God, I have found everything."

Do You Believe God Exists?

This is a very interesting conversation between a Muslim student and his professor. The fantastic use of logics by the students amazes me so much. You can click on the headline to download the pps file (powerpoint presentation). I hope you will enjoy reading it and will share it with your friends.

3 Ekor Ikan...

Maka, tuntutlah ilmu tanpa rasa jemu. Semoga bahagia sentiasa bertamu.

Crossing The River

Use your mind and try to solve this problem...

Rules:

1. The dad cant be left with the daughters.

2. The mom cant be left with the sons.

3. The prisoner cant be left with anyone alone.

4. The kids cant cross together.

Somehow you need to get a mom + 2 daughters a dad + 2 sons and a cop with his prisoner across a river....

Hidup Itu Imtihan...

Bila tiba musim peperiksaan,
Ragam manusia dapat kita perhatikan,
Ada yg tekun studi, ada yg tak lalu nak makan,
Rumus & fakta semua disumbat dalam ingatan,
'Previous years questions' & 'assignments', semuanya diberi perhatian.

Mengulangkaji sampai tak menang tangan,
Perasaan takut, cuak, tak berkeyakinan,
Semua datang tanpa diundang.

Tapi, dalam menghadapi kenyataan,
Adakah kita juga berperasaan sedemikian,
Seperti kita menghadapi peperiksaan?
Sedangkan kehidupan di dunia ini,
Dikurnia Allah sbg satu ujian,
"(Allah) Yang Menciptakan kematian & kehidupan untuk menguji siapa antara kamu yg paling baik amalannya (Al-Mulk:2)"

Mungkin, kadangkala manusia terlupa,
Tujuan hidup ini sebenarnya,
Lebih besar ertinya,
Berbanding ujian-ujian lain di dunia,
Tetapi, ujian yg paling besar inilah,
Yang sering dilupakan,
Yang sering diambil mudah,
Yang paling sedikit dibuat persediaan.

Justeru itu,
Persiapkanlah diri kita,
Akal, fizikal, dan ruhani sama sekata,
Agar hidup kita di sini tidak sia-sia,
Kejarlah yg hakiki, nescaya yg fana akan mengejar kita jua.

"Betapa byk jln keluar yg dtg stlh rasa putus asa, betapa byk kegembiraan dtg slps kesusahan, sesiapa yg berbaik sangka pd Pemilik 'Arasy, dia akan memetik manisnya buah di tengah-tengah pohon berduri." -Hukama-

Attitude Determines Attitude

I woke up early today, excited over all I get to do before the clock strikes midnight. I have responsibilities to fulfill today. I am important. My job is to choose what kind of day I am going to have.

Today I can complain because the weather is rainy or I can be thankful that the grass is getting watered for free.

Today I can feel sad that I don't have more money or I can be glad that my finances encourage me to plan my purchases wisely and guide me away from waste.

Today I can grumble about my health or I can rejoice that I am alive.

Today I can cry because roses have thorns or I can celebrate that thorns have roses.

Today I can mourn my lack of friends or I can excitedly embark upon a quest to discover new relationships.

Today I can whine because I have to go to work or I can shout for joy because I have a job to do.

Today I can complain because I have to go to school or eagerly open my mind and fill it with rich new tidbits of knowledge.

Today I can murmur dejectedly because I have to do housework or I can feel honored because the Lord has provided shelter for my mind, body and soul.

Today stretches ahead of me, waiting to be shaped. And here I am, the sculptor who gets to do the shaping.

What today will be like is up to me. I get to choose what kind of day I will have!

You Know You're Malaysian When...

You Know You're Malaysian When....

You complain about the quality of the pirated DVD you just purchased. "What, RM10 for DVD5?! Aiyah, boss ... sound no good, cheaperlah ..."

You're willing to consume sambal petai and durian and gladly suffer the bloating and wind-breaking incidents.

You're exceedingly polite to the Mat Sallehs but you slag your own kind. "Hello, sir. Why don't you sit here, it?s got the best view of the city skyline." But, "Aunty-ah, your table is over there next to the kitchen."

You order Maggi goreng and fried chicken, complain about how oily the food is, and then proceed to finish it anyway.

You love to talk about food. You're already thinking about what to have for dinner while eating lunch. "I'm stuffed. What shall we have for dinner?"

You dive into a communal-style meal the moment the dish lands on the table only to hesitate at the last morsel of food on the serving dish. There are two possible explanations for this: the first is the pai seh (embarrassed) factor, while the other is the myth that the person who eats the last piece will be a spinster.

You hit the accelerator the moment the first drop of rain hits your windshield. "Alamak, it's going to rain. Sure traffic jam one. I'd better drive faster."

You seize the opportunity to make a U-turn anywhere ... especially where there is a sign telling you not to. Well, so long as the cops aren't in sight.

You feel a burning desire to send text messages and even have the gall to give your friend a blow-by-blow account of the movie to your friend on the handphone ? during the screening of the movie. "Okay, now that girl Lizzie is impersonating an Italian singer; she so doesn?t look Italian ..."

You forsake your loved ones for the all-important four letter-word: S-A-L-E. "Sorry, mum, I can't take you to Aunt Mary?s because I have to go to MidValley before the crowd." You?re also more than happy to be part of the insane traffic jam that forms around malls during weekends and sale periods.

11. Reality shows Akademi Fantasia and Malaysian Idol dictate your social life. "What, no TV at the mamak? Count me out ? I'm staying home. Rinie needs my support."

You pepper every sentence with lah. "No-lah, I can't see you today-lah. I have to study-lah. You know-lah, the prison warden aka mak is watching me like a hawk"

You fail to function normally without your daily dose of teh tarik and nasi lemak.

You have owned at least one Proton in your lifetime. Cheap, cheap. That is until you start to make enough dough to buy that Honda you've been salivating over.

You slow down at an accident site to take down the car number plate, but won't step out of your car to help ? the victim could be a robber!

You'd rather park your car along the main road outside the mall, where there's a yellow line, rather than pay RM1 to park inside where there are adequate bays.

You plead, bat your eyelids and relate a sob story to the officer at the town council office to let you off the hook (or reduce the amount considerably) for the fine you incurred when you parked your car on the double line.

You make an appointment for 10am and conveniently show up a half hour late ? Malaysian time, what ...

You pop open the wet tissue packet at the Chinese restaurant by squeezing the trapped air to the top of the packet before proceeding to smash your fist into it. The louder the pop the better.

You greet your friend / neighbor / acquaintance on the street with "How are things?" or "Have you eaten?" or better yet, by stating the obvious: "Went to market ah?"

Ramlee burger is the "piece de resistance" of your growing-up-years cuisine.

You catch all major televised events at the mamak.

You have roughly six meals a day (breakfast, mid-morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and supper). Then there's the snacking ? keropok ikan, pisang goreng, muruku, jam tarts and the like.

You get the whole family dressed to the nines, jump into the car and head for the minister's open house ? and ask for styrofoam boxes and plastic bags to tar pau food.

Your accent and language style vary according to the race of the person you are conversing with.

You've got a friendly disposition. Smiles are abundant and your "Apa khabar?" is warm and sincere.

You exclaim loudly how expensive everything is, even though the items may in fact be going for a steal. "Wah! So expensive, ah? Hak sei ngor (Scare me to death)!"

You dig deep into your pockets to contribute to the latest appeal for donations in the newspapers.

You "dis" our country all the time, but as soon as something good happens (like winning the Thomas Cup), you morph into a proud Malaysian.

You never travel abroad without a bottle of chilli sauce, or sachets which you can sneak into restaurants.

You're proud to be Malaysian - and you pass these jokes on to all your Malaysian friends!

Ingatan Bersama...

Kita pasti dirisik..
Pertunangan sejak azali..
Di hujung hidup nanti..

Berlangsungnya perkahwinanmu dengan maut..
Hantarannya..sakit dan nazak..
Tamu bertandang menghadiahkan esak tangis..
Pengantin dimandikan..

Dipakaikan baju cantik putih..
Wangian gaharu dan cendana..
Keranda jadi pelaminan..
Pengantin bersanding sendirian..

Di arak keliling kampung..
Berkompangkan azan dan kalimah kudus..
Akad nikahnya bacaan talkin..
Berwalikan liang lahad..

Saksi pula nisan-nisan..
Siraman air mawar..
Keluarga terdekat menepung tawar..
Tiba masa pengantin..
Menunggu sendirian..

Malam pertama bersama KEKASIH..
Di kamar bertilamkan tanah..
Dan Dia menuntut janji..
Sucikah kita tatkala berpadu..

Pernahkah taubat sepanjang hayat..
Atau terkubur bersama dosa-dosa..
Dan Dia Kekasih itu..
Menetapkanmu ke syurga..
Atau melemparkan dirimu ke neraka..

Little Things

Too often we don't realise
what we have until it is gone;
Too often we wait too late to say,
"I'm sorry - I was wrong."
Sometimes it seems we hurt the ones
we hold dearest to our hearts;
And we allow foolish things
to tear our lives apart.

Far too many times we let
unimportant things into our minds;
And then it's usually too late
to see what made us blind.

So be sure that you let people know
how much they mean to you;
Take that time to say the words
before your time is through.

Be sure that you appreciate
everything you've got
And be thankful for the
little things in life
that mean a lot.

Remind your friends to appreciate the little things in life!

If An Insect Falls in Your Cup of Coffee, What Would You Do?

Here is one analysis:

1. The Englishman: Throws the cup away and walks out of the cafe.

2. The American: Takes the insect out and drinks the coffee.

3. The Chinese: Eats the insect and throws the coffee away.

4. The Besieged Palestinian: Drinks the coffee and the insect.

5. The Israeli:

*Sells the coffee to the American and the insect to the Chinese.

*Screams that his security is in peril.

*Accuses the Palestinians of throwing the insect in his coffee.

*Alleges that Hizbullah, the Syrians and the Iranians advocate attacks with weapons of mass insects.

*Relates this vicious attack to Islamic Terrorism, Attacks on Human Rights, Anti- Semites, the Holocaust, the Diaspora, the Discrimination against Noah's Ark.

*Commands Mahmoud Abbas to immediately stop insects from flying in the air or landing in coffee cups.

*Re-occupies the West Bank and Gaza, razes houses, cuts off water and electricity, humiliates and terrorizes civilians, kills or maims anyone in his way.

*Imposes more military aid on the American.

* Demands a 100-year, billion-dollar, loan from America to buy another cup of coffee.

*Claims life-time free coffee from the cafe as compensation.

Manusia Selalu Lupa...

Manusia selalu lupa,
Lupa kepada Tuhannya,
yang menciptanya dari tiada kepada ada,
Yang memberi nikmat bermacam-macam bentuknya.

Lupa kepada dosa,
Padahal dosa selalu memburunya,
Ia akan menghumbankannya ke dalam Neraka.

Lupa kepada ibu bapa yang memelihara di waktu kecilnya,
Dihantar ke sekolah, berpeluang menuntut ilmu-Nya,
Dijaga kesihatannya, sihat badannya,
Setelah dewasa ilmu itulah aset dirinya.

Lupa kepada guru-guru yang membuat jasa kepadanya,
Memberi ilmu yang banyak, menjadi hartanya,
Sekadarkan menziarahi guru sekali sekala pun tiada.

Dilupakan gurunya sepanjang hayatnya,
Lupa kepada kawan yang pernah menolongnya,
Padahal di waktu itu dia sedang menderita.

Lupa kepada asal-usulnya,
Dia itu siapa sebenamya,
Dilupakan oleh pangkat, kesenangan dan kemewahan,
Teringat sahaja kampung tempat tumpah darahnya,
Rasa tidak senang sahaja.

Malunya hendak ziarah kampung asalnya,
Bahkan bermacam-macam lagi yang dilupakannya,
Padahal semuanya itu sejarah hidupnya,
Sepatutnya manusia ini bersikap:
Tempat jatuh lagi dikenang, inikan pula tempat bermain.

Nice Poem...

I knelt to pray but not for long,
I had too much to do.
I had to hurry and get to work,
For bills would soon be due.
So I knelt and said a hurried prayer,
And jumped up off my knees.
My Muslim duty was now done,
My soul could rest at ease.
All day long I had no time,
To spread a word of cheer.
No time to speak of Allah to friends,
They'd laugh at me I'd fear.
No time, no time, too much to do,
That was my constant cry,
No time to give to souls in need,
But at last the time, the time to die.
I went before the Lord,
I came, I stood with downcast eyes.
For in his hands God held a book;
It was the book of life.
God looked into his book and said
Your name I cannot find.
I once was going to write it down,
But never found the time...

My Beloved...

There was a time in my youth,
When Islam was only a custom.
They said "say La IIaha IIIa Allah,
And pray, you'll go to Heaven.

"Ah, how simple, no struggle in this,
Just a word, and simple act.
Thereafter I'm absorbed in this world again,
With my 'assured' place in Paradise intact.

But this was not to be my fate,
For ALLAH chose to guide my heart.
I learnt of a man who struggled so hard,
When his mission was from the start.

Spoke gently, kindness he knew.
Never fearing to say what's right,
His conviction in ISLAM was true.

The touch of his hand was as soft as silk,
To comfort a crying child.
To mend his clothes, or do the chores,
Never complaining, he always smiled.

A living he made with his bare hands,
The same that held his mighty sword.
Valour shone from the edge of his blade.

His smell was always of musk,
And cleanliness he kept at his best.
Stark contrast with the heroes of today,
Who stink of beer and sweat.

He held the hands of his companions.
Unashamed to play with many children.
So modest, so humble, a perfect example,
That strangers could not recognise him.

His eyes slept little for nights were precious,
His prayers he treasured much greater.
To pray Tahajjud in the depths of night,
Seeking forgiveness, and nearness to his Creator.

He broke his tooth for me at Uhud,
And bled for me at Ta'if.
He cried for me, tears of concern,
Just so I could have this belief.

His enemies admired his teachings,
Uniting every religion, every clan.
Till ISLAM came to every corner of the world,
O, but indeed he was only a man.

To own a house, or build his wealth,
Was not his main priority.
To establish ISLAM was more essential,
To bring us under a Higher Authority.

Don't you want him to plea for your case,
When before ALLAH-The Judge-you stand?
Don't you wish to be around his fountain,
A burning desire to drink from his hand?

So I love him more than all creation,
My Leader, my Humble Prophet.
Muhammad (SAWS) was a mercy to all mankind,
And to me, he is...

MY BELOVED !

Jaga Singh =)

There's this Jaga Singh who was working for a multi-millionare as a House guard. One day, while the millionaire was driving out to catch an early morning flight to conclude a business deal, Jaga Singh ran out from the guard house and stopped the millionaire's car just right in front of the gate.

He said "Sir..Sir.. are you going to board a plane?"

"Yes, why?" asked the millionaire.

"You had better cancel the trip. You see, last night I dreamt about the plane going to crash."

Curious over the early morning fright that Jaga Singh had given, the multimillionaire decided to cancel his trip.

"You better be damn right for this is a million dollar deal."

The following day, there were news reports that the plane that the millionaire was supposed to take had indeed crash landed.

"Thank God I cancelled the trip,." The rich man said realising that what Jaga Singh had said had come true, he called the Singh to see him.

A Boy and A Puppy...

A farmer had some puppies he needed to sell. He painted a sign advertising the 4 pups. And set about nailing it to a post on the edge of his yard. As he was driving the last nail into the post, he felt a tug on his overalls. He looked down into the eyes of a little boy.

"Mister," he said, "I want to buy one of your puppies."

"Well," said the farmer, as he rubbed the sweat off the back off his neck,

"These puppies come from fine parents and cost a good deal of money."

The boy dropped his head for a moment. Then reaching deep into his pocket, he pulled out a handful of change and held it up to the farmer.

"I've got thirty-nine cents. Is that enough to take a look?"

"Sure," said the farmer. And with that he let out a whistle.

"Here, Dolly!" he called.

Out from the doghouse and down the ramp ran Dolly followed by four little balls of fur. The little boy pressed his face against the chain link fence. His eyes danced with delight. As the dogs made their way to the fence, the little boy noticed something else stirring inside the doghouse. Slowly another little ball appeared, this one noticeably smaller. Down the ramp it slid. Then in a somewhat awkward manner, the little pup began hobbling toward the others, doing its best to catch up.

"I want that one," the little boy said, pointing to the runt.

The farmer knelt down at the boy's side and said, "Son, you don't want that puppy. He will never be able to run and play with you like these other dogs would."

With that the little boy stepped back from the fence, reached down, and began rolling up one leg of his trousers. In doing so he revealed a steel brace running down both sides of his leg attaching itself to a specially made shoe.

Looking back up at the farmer, he said, "You see sir, I don't run too well myself, and he will need someone who understands."
With tears in his eyes, the farmer reached down and picked up the little pup. Holding it carefully he handed it to the little boy.

"How much?" asked the little boy.

"No charge," answered the farmer, "There's no charge for love."

Friends...

If You Were Your Own Employer...

IF YOU WERE YOUR OWN EMPLOYER, WOULD YOU BE ENTIRELY SATISFIED WITH THE DAYS WORK YOU HAVE DONE TODAY?

At the end of the day, it matters little what others think of you, what's important is what you think about yourself. As you reflect on your days work, ask yourself, have I given 100 percent of my time and talents today? If this were my company, would I like it to be filled with hundreds of other people just like me, or would I prefer to hire individuals with a little more initiative? When you have become the kind of person you would like to work with or have working for you, you aren't far from the day when you will own the company - or at least become a valuable part of it. Most important, you can sleep soundly at night, serene in the knowledge that you have done your best, that you have earned your pay, and that you have met the standards of performance you require of yourself.

In His Way...

Those who have found The Truth found Him in their souls;
Those who have been detained half-way have been hindered by conjectures.

Who truly seeks will truly find Him, while the indolent can do neither.
For His slaves on their spiritual journey, He is the final destination.

The souls who do not recognize Him as Friend, who do not die to themselves to be raised again in Him,
The souls who did not live nor will die for His sake are utterly bereft and destitute.

Come, friends, let’s set out to reach the realm of the Beloved;
And let us see the rose of His beauty for a moment in light.

The world is pitiless and cruel, all around is fog and cloud;
It is but a loss and waste of time to stay here even for a short while.

We are travellers, and our home coming is with Him alone
What an honour to reach Him; and

Faith is the only means of arriving, this aim by His leave and grace.
